Macedonia includes the whole plain of Thessally; Mount Athos and Thessalonika in the region of Iamboli; the Ionian Islands and Euboa with the Northern Sporades and Skyros. Decorative old coloured title cartouche; scale; ship to sea. Original colour; lightly toned with some spotting worse to margins, one darker spot to sea outside Pireus; tiny wormholes to side margins.

The view/ map shows the fort Castel Belvedere or Kastelos ,built on the isolated hill Kastellos, that was accessible only from its south side, near the villages of Ano and Kato Kastelliana.
The castle dominated the western edge of Messara and was built by the Genoese pirate Pescatore between 1206-1210. During building, materials were extracted by the ancient town Priansos, which was built at the same position. The name Belvedere means good view, derived from the stunning views towards all directions. Dark impression, on laid paper; soiling to blank margins; light dampstain to edge of right blank margin.

The view/ map shows the bay at Kateros just east of Candia city/ Iraklion; the bay named after the Byzantine General, Krateros, who in 824 AD landed on the beach with his ships in order to liberate Crete from the Saracens, but was defeated. On the vast bay, there are two settlements, Karteros and Amnisos. Amnisos was Minoan settlement, and the bay was the location of the ports of Knossos.
