The view shows the Thesion with the house of Plaka behind , in the distance can be seen the newly constructed Royal Palace ( completed in 1843), now the seat of the Greek Parliament. Generally clean,, smudges to upper blank margin within platemark but not image.

Antoine Chenevard
"was an architect and professor at the Ecole de Beaux Arts in Lyon, and brother of the artist Paul Chenevard who decorated the Pantheon, Together with the architecht Dalgrabio and the painter Etienne Rey he spent five months, from Sept. 1843 to Jan1844, in the Levant, mostly in Greece and Asia minor with a short excursion in Egypt. Chenevard and Rey spent two months in Athens; shortly after their arrival the revolution of September3 occured and Chenevard gives an interesting eye-witness account." Blackmer/ Navari
