Etienne Rey, [Artist]
with his colleague Antoine Chenevard, from the Lyons Ecole des Beaux Arts, travelled to Greece and the Levant between September 1843 and January 1844.
His work is often confused with that of his colleague due to the similatrity of their titles. " One of the reasons for the long delay in producing this work was that Rey himself produced the lithographs from his original drawings." Blackmer/Navari
